Omoluabi Festival - Oyo

The Omoluabi Festival in Oyo State is a cultural celebration centred on the Yoruba ideal of Omoluabi—a person of good character, integrity, respect, responsibility, hard work and community spirit. The festival brings together cultural performances, traditional values, youth participation and community activities to celebrate Yoruba identity and heritage

The modern Omoluabi Festival and Awards was launched in 2018 under the leadership of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, as a platform for celebrating Yoruba identity and exemplary people. In Oyo State, the festival was introduced as an annual celebration, with the state endorsing October 2 for the event in 2022. A 2026 announcement from the Yoruba Youth Council (Oyo State) lists the next edition for October 29, 2026

The festival promotes the traditional Yoruba philosophy of good character (ìwà pẹ̀lẹ́), encouraging honesty, humility, respect, courage, responsibility and service to the community. It also helps preserve Yoruba customs and identity by bringing together traditional music, dance, dress, arts, cultural displays and storytelling, while giving younger generations opportunities to connect with their heritage
